Gosh Darns and Gee Wiz

I found the urge to blog moments ago.

Living with my grandparents has been quite an experience.
While I CANNOT wait to finally have our very own home...
I'm rarely home alone.
This has it's ups and it's downs.
This morning I was able to add another little bullet point to the ups.

For some reason, my grandparents find it necessary to talk to people on speaker phone.
My grandmother literally clips the phone to her shirt...
and walks around the house.
This is an every day thing.
And 98 percent of the time she's speaking in spanish.
I don't know how she finds SO many things to talk about.
Sometimes I wish I were that social.

This morning was very different.
I had the pleasure of listening to my grandfather speak to my uncle.
I'll give you the short version of this part of the story.

Uncle goes to Spain.
Uncle falls in love.
Uncle brings woman to the states.
Uncle and woman get married.
Surprise pregnancy (medical history said she couldn't)
Yay, happy times.
Woman has a hard time raising baby in a foreign country.
They up and move to Spain.
Spain's economy = terrible.
Uncle struggles in fighting for working visa.
Finds out some idiot didn't know how to do his job.
Could have had a working visa a long time ago.
Calls my grandpa in frustration.

Some of you know my uncle and grandpa.
Some of you don't.
Some of you have seen either of them in there "true" state
Some of you have not.
This will be much funnier to those of you that have.

My uncle proceeds to throw around some profanity.
After the conversation my grandpa looked at me and said,
"Mig threw in a lot of Gosh Darns and Gee Wiz's in there"
and of course laughed at his own joke.
My grandpa comes up with things to do to the people who have wronged my uncle.
(He has threatened headlocks and knees to the face to previous boyfriends)
During this conversation neither of them were holding back.

Now, here is my favorite part about their conversations.
One of them will say something that my grandpa thinks is the most brilliant, most hilarious thing to ever leave someone's mouth.
He proceeds to laugh about it for the next 2-3 hours...
By himself!
His laugh is much like listening to a man struggling to breathe,
after sucking the helium out of a balloon.

So for the last 30 minutes I have listened to him chuckle to himself every 10 minutes or so.
And it's made me laugh every single time.
So needless to say...
There's never really a dull moment in this house
And I'm very thankful for them in giving us this opportunity to save money.

I will not sugar coat the fact that living with them is hard for me.
We are a freshly married couple and all I want is to share a home with my husband.
I want OUR couch.
I want OUR kitchen.
I want to have OUR friends over for a game night.
But I have to set that aside and look at what we are saving when I'm struggling.
It'll all be worth it in the end.
And we are so very lucky to have them.
